It seems Pennines doubles only like it when it's raining........

After a few days of settled weather, when you would think the bigger fish would come on to feed it took a day of 40mph winds and about 3 inches rainfall to tempt the bigger fish to bank. Southport angler Mr Adrian Rimington had the second biggest brace of the season with first a 14lb 2oz then sharply followed by and 17lb 10oz (pictured) a total of almost 32lb both fish were on buzzers fished on a floating line and caught in now what's called "BIG FISH ALLEY" that's the bay to anyone who does not know. This is quite a roll for doubles caught in this area, just counting back on the fish that have been taken over the last month it's up to 14 doubles from 11lb to 22lb all caught within the neck of the bay. Back to tactics, buzzers again on floaters when fished with the ripple, egg flies as always! Sinking lines have proven good around the 5 foot mark with black fritzs and white and green fritzs doing the best. Fish averages are up this week to 4lb 9oz, this is probably down to the 9 double figure fish being taken this week. The rod rate is at 7 fish per angler, slightly down but I'm sure with the return of Mr Dave Manning from his recent holiday this total will be bit different next week.
