Autumn seems to arrived......

Misty mornings followed by bright low sun seems to be the pattern with the weather this week. The cooler mornings have slowed the natural fly life down until around 10.30am this is roughly when the sun burns though the mist and awakes the late hatching daddies. This behavior then runs on though out the day. Best tactics at the moment are a intermediate line to begin with, starting with a damsel or a montana style lure fished around the 5 foot mark. Then as the air temperature warms up try the floating line with daddies, black boobies or floating frys. Failing that a sight bob with the killer egg flies are now starting to fish well around the cages at a depth of 5 foot, yellow or white hotspot seem to be the best. Fish of the week goes to Mr Geoff Worral from Northwich with a stunning silver rainbow caught on a montana from the dam wall area on the top lake. Other notable catches have been a 12lb 5oz rainbow caught by Runcorn angler Mr John Worthington on a olive lure and a 15lb 2oz rainbow caught by Mr Mick Ainscough from Hindley on a damsel. Angler of the week goes to Mr Peter Rodgers from Huddersfield with 17 fish in a very wet 3 hour fishing spell all to the "old faithful" a home tied fly. Please remember the late fishing has now ended for this season, our current opening times are 8am to 6pm 7 days a week.
